We have a developed an interesting and
rewarding approach to
travel in Europe and elsewhere, an approach that small groups can adapt
to their own purposes and goals. Traveling with a theme,
especially a historical theme, not only gives you more involvement and
"ownership" in your trip, it also takes you to interesting places and
sites that most travelers never see. But we never fail to take in
the usual sights too. And our travelers remember seeing the
Eiffel Tower and the Louvre as well as visiting battlefields in France
or castles in the odd corner of Wales. You get the point.
We specialize in educational groups, and one of our favorite kinds of
group is the multi-age trip (for example, homeschool trip) designed for
both parents and
kids. We have also seen groups of families combine very
effectively for trips devoted to, for example, Colonial History, on the
East Coast. When we say "Educational Travel," we really mean
"study trips which are enriching for all concerned."
Both in the trips we lead and in the trips we advise on or work on, we
aim for a balance between planning and flexibility. When
you can leave enough flexibility in your schedule (and your frame of
mind) to take opportunities of enjoying chance finds, talking to
people you happen meet, exploring some places you never imagined to
exist, you will gain much over the traditional travelers who are
sometimes too tired and confused even to utter the famous war cry of
the
Ugly American: "It's Tuesday, it must be Belgium."
